I’ve spent more than two decades as a special education teacher and behavior specialist, supporting students from kindergarten through high school. Over the years, I’ve worked in self-contained classrooms, supported general ed teachers, led RTI teams, and helped schools create behavior plans that actually work.
But what really drives me?
Helping educators feel confident and equipped when it comes to behavior. Because let’s be honest—this part of the job doesn’t always come with a roadmap.
That’s why I created The Responsive Educator.
This space is for teachers, interventionists, and homeschoolers who are looking for real strategies—not just theories. Whether you’re dealing with daily behavior challenges or trying to teach SEL in a way that sticks, I’m here to make the process more manageable.
You’ll find:
Blog posts that walk you through behavior and SEL strategies
Time-saving tools and printable resources
Thoughtful book recommendations for teaching social skills
And practical tips that help you support students without burning out
And if we haven’t met yet—hi, I’m Jennifer. I’m a teacher, resource creator, and lifelong learner. I’m also the kind of person who still gets excited about a well-organized behavior chart and a smooth morning routine.
Thanks for being here. I’m so glad you found your way to this corner of the internet.
Let’s help kids thrive—together.
