Description
Christmas Token Boards – Individual Reward Charts
Supporting student behavior can be challenging—especially when a student needs more than verbal reminders or praise to stay engaged and make positive choices. A well-designed token board gives students a clear, visual way to understand expectations and work toward meaningful reinforcement.
Unlike many traditional token boards used in classroom token economies, this resource allows teachers to easily shift between reinforcing general positive behavior and targeting one specific behavior—without creating a new setup or redesigning the entire system.
The Christmas Token Boards are designed to be flexible, practical, and easy to use in real classrooms. Teachers can reinforce overall positive choices throughout the day or focus on one specific behavior a student is working on, such as calling out, staying in their seat, or following directions. Expectations stay clear, reinforcement stays meaningful, and teachers can adjust focus as student needs change—without starting over.
Why These Token Boards Work Better Than Typical Token Boards
Many token boards rely on a single setup that doesn’t adapt well as student needs change. This resource is different because it gives teachers intentional flexibility while keeping the structure simple and manageable.
Unlike token boards that rely on a single setup, these token boards allow teachers to adjust reinforcement, focus, and choice board options without rebuilding the entire system.
Two Token Board Options for Different Behavior Goals
This resource includes two token board formats, designed to support different types of reinforcement.
The open token board can be used to reinforce any positive behavior the teacher chooses. This option works well for encouraging general positive choices, effort, participation, or engagement throughout the day.
The token board with a visual target behavior allows teachers to select one specific positive behavior from a bank of 50+ common classroom target behaviors and place that visual directly on the board. Tokens are earned only for that one behavior, helping students clearly understand what they are working on, how they earn tokens, and why reinforcement is being given.
The visual reminder stays on the board, supporting focus, consistency, and follow-through—especially for students who benefit from clear, concrete expectations. Teachers can continue using the same board and simply change the target behavior as goals shift.
Why the Choice Boards Matter
Choice is motivating—but not all students respond well to unlimited options.
What makes the choice boards in this resource different is that teachers decide how many choices are offered at one time. Instead of presenting every possible reward, teachers select from four different choice board layouts:
2 choices, 4 choices, 6 choices, or 9 choices.
The included choice boards allow teachers to control how many options are presented at one time, making them effective for students who need structure as well as those who need novelty.
These choice boards support motivation while helping teachers manage decision-making, structure, and follow-through. Students still experience meaningful choice, but within clear, supportive boundaries that reduce overwhelm and power struggles.
Reinforcers That Stay Meaningful—Without Extra Work
Teachers often run out of reinforcement ideas or feel pressure to rely on rewards that take extra time or preparation.
This resource includes 80+ low-cost or no-cost reinforcer visuals that are easy to implement, realistic for everyday classroom use, and motivating for students. Having these options readily available helps teachers avoid scrambling for ideas and keeps reinforcement effective without adding extra work.
Easy to Implement in Real Classrooms
These token boards are intentionally designed to be simple and flexible.
Teachers print, laminate, and cut the boards and visuals, use Velcro to customize the board, select a target behavior or open version, choose a small set of reinforcers, and begin reinforcing immediately.
The boards can be introduced during small group instruction, 1:1 support, or morning check-in and used alongside existing classroom routines, behavior plans, or token economy systems.

3 Keys to Effective Reinforcement, clear choice board directions, and step-by-step token board implementation guidance
Understanding Choice Boards
Token boards are paired with reinforcer choice boards so students remain invested in what they are working toward. Teachers and students collaborate to select reinforcers from a teacher-approved set, increasing motivation while maintaining structure.
Tailoring Choices to Student Needs
Some students do best with very limited options, while others need variety to stay engaged.
This resource allows teachers to offer fewer choices for students who become overwhelmed, offer more choices for students who seek novelty or control, and adjust motivation without changing the entire setup. Structured choice supports independence while maintaining predictability.
Should I Really Reinforce a Student for Something They “Should” Be Doing?
Just as adults are paid to do jobs they wouldn’t choose for free, students often need reinforcement to complete tasks that are challenging or non-preferred.
Token boards are especially helpful when compliance is a challenge, verbal praise isn’t enough, or students are learning new or replacement behaviors. Reinforcement is a tool that helps students build success and confidence over time.
These token boards are designed to grow with your students—supporting positive behavior while giving teachers the flexibility to respond to changing needs without added complexity.
