Description
The weeks before winter break often bring schedule changes, special events, and a great deal of excitement. These Christmas appropriate vs inappropriate behavior worksheets give students structured practice thinking through behavior choices they may encounter at school, at home, and in the community during the holiday season.
Students cut out 12 Christmas-themed social situations in each activity and sort them according to the behavior shown. After sorting, they select one inappropriate behavior, explain why it may cause a problem, and consider a more appropriate response.
An alternate expected vs unexpected behavior version is also included, allowing you to choose the terminology that works best for your students, school, or program.
Practice Expected and Unexpected Behavior During the Holiday Season
Students may know a classroom expectation but still have difficulty applying it when routines change or excitement increases. These Christmas behavior activities give them specific situations they can examine and discuss before they encounter similar situations themselves.
The scenarios help students practice:
- Identifying appropriate and inappropriate behavior
- Recognizing expected and unexpected behavior
- Applying expectations during Christmas activities and events
- Thinking about how behavior affects other people
- Explaining why a choice may create a problem
- Identifying a more appropriate response
The reflection question moves the activity beyond simply placing each scenario in the correct category. Students must explain their reasoning, helping you determine whether they understand the social expectation or are only making a guess.
Two Terminology Options Are Included
Every activity is provided in two versions:
- Appropriate vs Inappropriate Behavior
- Expected vs Unexpected Behavior
Both versions contain the same 60 unique scenarios. You can select the language that best fits your setting without purchasing or preparing another resource.

A Purposeful Christmas SEL Activity
Seasonal activities do not have to be disconnected from the skills students are currently working on. These Christmas behavior worksheets provide a holiday activity while reinforcing social awareness, problem-solving, and appropriate responses to common situations.
You can use the activities during:
- Morning meeting
- SEL instruction
- Classroom-expectations lessons
- Small-group social-skills instruction
- Counseling or behavior intervention groups
- Centers or partner work
- Independent practice
- Sub plans or meaningful early-finisher work
- The final days before winter break
The cut-and-paste format provides hands-on practice, while the scenarios create natural opportunities for classroom discussion. Students can compare choices, explain their thinking, and consider what they could do differently in a similar situation.
Designed for Grades 2–5
The situations and activity format are designed for elementary students in Grades 2–5. The worksheets can be completed independently, with a partner, in a small group, or as part of a teacher-led discussion.
Use all five sets throughout the Christmas season, or select individual activities when students need additional practice managing behavior during schedule changes, holiday events, and less-structured parts of the school day.
This resource is part of my Appropriate vs Inappropriate and Expected vs Unexpected Behavior Sorts product line. Each set provides hands-on practice with realistic behavior choices while using a seasonal or school-year theme.
